Our HEZ Committees

Composed of Subcommittee representatives, residents, and community organizations, the Steering Committee drives and affirms that the work of SPHEZ is rooted in the needs of the community. The Steering Committee supports the Subcommittees below to drive meaningful, place-based change. 

 

The CHC Subcommittee focuses on reducing chronic disease in 02905 by addressing systemic barriers and promoting community-led wellness strategies. The CHC subcommittee is prioritizing asthma and respiratory health through culturally relevant education campaigns. Their efforts are rooted in resident leadership and data-informed approaches to reduce health disparities. 

The CODE Subcommittee is advancing overdose prevention in South Providence by combining grassroots engagement with strategic planning. Leveraging community outreach and expanding collaborations with recovery specialists, the Subcommittee is co-designing a community-informed overdose response plan. Emphasis is placed on trust-building, harm reduction, and connecting residents to life-saving services. 

 

The EJ Subcommittee is working to ensure that all residents of 02905 live in safe, healthy environments. Their main priority is to improve indoor and outdoor air quality in the community by focusing on broader environmental factors and housing improvements.  

 

The IAHC Subcommittee is working to improve perinatal and infant health outcomes in the community. Through education, culturally competent support services, and provider collaboration, the group aims to bring culturally informed information and resources to community spaces to improve access to these services.
