Amazon Smile - You Shop, Amazon Gives

If you are one of the estimated 310 million customers shopping on Amazon, I have a quick tip on how you can give back to a nonprofit of your choice… by shopping.

What is Amazon Smile?

Amazon Smile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on Amazon Smile, the Amazon Smile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice.

0.5% doesn’t seem like a ton, but it adds up quickly! You can check out how much you have donated to the charity of your choosing when logged in through Amazon Smile – you can also see the total amount that Amazon Smile has donated to charities who participate in the Amazon Smile program.

How do you Amazon Smile?

It’s simple to participate – visit smile.amazon.com and choose the charity of your choice. (Note: when shopping you need to shop using smile.amazon.com in order for the donation to apply. Amazon suggests bookmarking the Amazon Smile website).

You can find FSRI by searching “Family Service of Rhode Island” or by using our unique charity link: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/05-0258858

Who can Amazon Smile?

Literally anyone with an active Amazon account. You are not required to be a Prime subscriber, even other business can participate in giving back. It would be a tremendous help if you share this info with your family and friends, it takes seconds to set up and has the potential to make a huge, lasting impact.

When can you Amazon Smile?

Every time you shop on Amazon. By shopping using smile.amazon.com FSRI will receive 0.5% for each eligible purchase. Amazon will do promotions like 5% back during ‘back to school’ or other special campaigns.
