Family Coaching and Visitation

Family Coaching and Visitation

Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI) provides Family Coaching and Visitation Center services to families who have experienced the trauma of separation and loss and are actively working towards reunification. Our program is built on the clinical foundation of TST (Trauma Systems Therapy) and services are customized to address the individualized support and visitation needs of children and their parents as they work to heal and establish healthy family relationships.

The children and families served are involved with the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). FSRI partners with these families and their DCYF caseworkers to help them achieve optimal permanency for their children

Visitation in Multiple Environments

Families are given the opportunity to visit and to explore new parenting and relationship skills in multiple environments. This is purposefully designed to assist parents in developing parenting capabilities and family resources to promote safety while supporting the child’s ability to regulate emotions and behaviors which, combined, leads to timely and successful reunification.

Program staff support visits at FSRI’s TST Family Coaching and Visitation Center; at natural community locations such as libraries, pediatrician’s offices, and family recreation areas which all provide opportunities for hands-on learning experiences; and also in families’ homes as reunification draws nearer. We are able to continue supporting families for up to six months after reunification to ensure maximum success.

Administrative support is coordinated from our agency's 134 Thurbers Ave, Providence office.
