Join the Collaborative Collage

The Collaborative Collage will provide participants with an guided online course that will aid participants in composing their collage around the theme "2020 Memories and Impressions". The Collaborative Collage Initiative is brought to you in partnership by Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI) and Art Connection Rhode Island.

In this 90-minute course, participants will learn the basics of rendering, exploration of lost and found edges, and creation of depth, all while using paper as a medium. The paper allows you to create textures and patterns that would ordinarily be limited in other mediums besides collage. Come have fun exploring this versatile medium with us! All levels welcome.

Meet The Instructor

Michael Walczak is a high energy visual artist working in ink and paper. His love of color, texture, pattern, and line are present in many of his abstract and narrative works. Michael believes that collage is best made through a process of ripping and tearing a variety of homemade papers. His work ranges in size from 10x10 inches to 4x6 feet. Michael teaches collage at Castle Hill School for the Arts in Truro, Massachusetts, as well as Studio17 in Providence, Rhode Island. His work has been shown at a number of Providence venues and was featured last spring at the main gallery of BankRI and will be at the Portsmouth Center for the Arts 2021.
