Home-Based Services help children with serious emotional and behavioral issues receive treatment in their home and community  and avoid residential or hospital care.   Home-based services are a particular specialty of Family Service of Rhode Island, and include case management to help the child's family deal with issues such as sub-standard housing, and language and cultural barriers.  Since the help is provided in a family's home, reliable transportation--a problem for many lower income families--is no longer a barrier to care.

Early Intervention is available for infants and toddlers with development issues. For more information, please click here.

Mount Pleasant Academy provides educational and mental health services for children ages 4-12.  For more information, please click here.

The Trauma and Loss Center provides follow-up treatment and wrap-around support to children and families harmed by violence.  Our Police Go Team is part of this initiative as is our critical incident stress management work.

Residential Treatment facilities are located in East Providence, Smithfield, North Smithfield and Bristol.  Children living in these residences are unable to live at home due to physical or sexual abuse, severe neglect, or serious mental health problems. Programs vary from intensive supervision to independent living allowing children to heal and gradually return to normalcy.

The Youth Success Program assists pregnant, parenting and at-risk adolescent males and females to become economically self-sufficient adults.  It builds personal living, social/life and parenting skills, and focuses on such areas as budgeting, job skills, safety and more.

For more information on these and other programs, please see our Directory of Services.
