05/11/06 Non-Profit Excellence Unending Process
The Governor’s Workforce Board has awarded Family Service of Rhode Island a grant of more than $20,000 for employee training.
Family Service of Rhode Island is a non-profit human service and educational organization serving communities statewide.
Margaret Holland McDuff, the non-profit’s CEO is grateful for the support from the Governor’s Workforce Board. “We believe non-profits must adhere to best business practices as we work to help people in crisis from poverty, abuse, mental illnesses and other problems,” she said.
The grant from the Governor’s Workforce Board will help train staff in new service models. “We owe it to our clients to provide services based on best practices and cutting edge techniques,” she said. “We owe it to our staff to provide them the training to achieve this.”
Achieving excellence is an unending process of continuous quality improvement at every level of the organization, she noted.
This commitment was recently recognized: last November, Family Service of Rhode Island received the Providence Business News first “Excellence in a Non-Profit Award.”
