01/26/09 Family Service of RI, Roger Williams University Offer Training   Family Service of Rhode Island and Roger Williams University are seeking candidates for the Rhode Island State Victim Assistance Academy to be held starting July.  The academy is a 40 hour curriculum geared toward victim service providers and criminal justice professionals new to their field.  The cost is $125, and registration information can be found at www.familyserviceri.org, by calling 401-331-1350, ext. 3200 or emailing ochoati@familyserviceri.org. Online registration is available by clicking here.   The academy is made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime.   The curriculum was developed by a multidisciplinary steering committee from public and private agencies across Rhode Island. It is based on the National Victim Assistance Academy curriculum developed by the federal Office of Victims of Crime. A certificate will be offered upon completion of the curriculum.   The academy will be held at Roger Williams University’s Baypoint Campus in Portsmouth over five full days.   (end)
