12/12/06 Red Sox Players At Group Home

Six Boston Red Sox players seemed to bring mild temperatures with them as they visited the boys living at Family Service of Rhode Island's Quanacut House program, located in East Providence, on Tuesday, December 12.

Pitchers Manny Delcarmen, Kason Gabbard, Craig Hansen,

Phil Seibel, and Julian Tavarez, along with centerfielder David Murphy, played basketball with the boys, tossed football, pushed them on the swings, and signed autographs.

Pitchers Kason Gabbard, Julian Tavarez and Manny Delcarmen watch one of the boys shoot a ball that's heading for the basket!

And, of course there were presents.

Centerfielder David Murphy gets a late fall workout!  How many boys get pushed on the swings by a real Red Sox player!

The Boston Red Sox,the Red Sox Foundation, the PawSox and Family Service of Rhode Island have a wonderful partnership benefiting the boys that began several years ago.  Recently the Sox and the Red Sox Foundation received the Brighter Futures Award. Pitcher Craig Hansen's throwing arm will need a couple days' rest after this autograph signing session!
