12/31/10 RE/MAX Cityside has a Heart for Foster Children

RE/Max Cityside, on South Main Street, Providence has a heart for children--particularly those without a home.

"There are Rhode Island children who didn't have a home for the holidays," said Julie Longtin, RE/MAX Cityside's owner. "At Re/Max Cityside we want to make sure this never happens again."

That's why they are opening their facilities to host an information session to recruit foster parents.  "The need for foster parents is great, and we want to help Family Service of RI to recruit many in the new year," she said.

On Wednesday, January 19 between 5 and 8 p.m., anyone interested may stop by their office at 350 South Main Street, Providence to get more information.  "Including meeting current foster parents so you can hear firsthand what it means to be a foster parent," said Greg Wright, foster parenting program coordinator at Family Service of RI. "We hope that many will join us that night and learn more. We have children waiting for good homes."

This is the first time in memory that a business is hosting an information forum on foster parenting.  "We hope other businesses in Providence and throughout the state will help us find homes for the holidays and more for Rhode Island's foster children," Wright said.

"We're pleased, we hope, to set an example for other real estate firms to step up to the plate and help these needy kids," said Ray Sirico, RE/MAX Cityside agent.
