Providence Housing

Authority

Family Service of RI and the Providence Housing Authority have been working together for more than a decade providing a range of social services to the residents of Providence Housing Authority residential complexes.

The Providence Housing Authority, established in 1939, owns and manages 2,606 units of public housing and is contract administrator for approximately 2,500 units of Section 8 housing.  Approximately 58% of its housing is designated for families with the remainder for elderly and/or disabled individuals or families.

In 2009, through a grant from The Rhode Island Foundation, Family Service of RI and the Providence Housing Authority began collaborating on replicating the acclaimed Harlem Children's Zone model in the Chad Brown and Admiral Terrace housing complexes area.
