11/18/05 Agency Receives Business Excellence Award Family Service of Rhode Island has received the Excellence in a Nonprofit Organization award from the Providence Business News. It was the first time non-profits were able to apply for such recognition under the Business Excellence Award program created by the paper 5 years ago. In a special section to the paper, the agency was described as “a supercenter of human service nonprofit organizations...”  The paper noted that the agency's "variety of programs and partnerships" earned it the award. At a ceremony held Thursday, November 17, Family Service of Rhode Island’s CEO Margaret Holland McDuff praised the agency’s staff for making the award possible.  She also thanked the families the agency serves for partnering with the staff. Joining Family Service of Rhode Island in receiving a Business Excellence Award are BankRI, Enviro-Clean Inc., Northeast Engineers & Consultants, Blackstone Valley Security, and James Purcell, president and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI. Family Service of Rhode Island's first annual Brighter Futures Award luncheon held Monday, November 14th, was an overwhelming success!
