01/18/06 Agency Meets Ocean State Charities Challenge

For Release Wednesday, January 18, 2006

Family Service of Rhode Island has received a $4,000 grant from Ocean State Charities Trust after meeting the Trust’s challenge to more than match the grant.

The grant will be used for furniture for treatment rooms at the agency’s 55 Hope Street, Providence offices.

“When a family or child comes to us for mental health or substance abuse treatment, we want to provide the care in a warm, inviting environment that says to them that they are important,” said Margaret Holland McDuff, Family Service of Rhode Island’s chief executive officer. “We are very grateful for the Trust’s help.”

Family Service of Rhode Island is a non-profit human service and educational organization serving the state’s poorest families.

Late last year, Ocean State Charities Trust challenged Family Service of Rhode Island to raise $4,760 to complete the agency's treatment room furniture replacement project.  Family Service of Rhode Island met the challenge with contributions from members of the agency’s board of directors and other donors.
