01/09/06 Mary Dexter Chafee Fund Grants $3,000 for Heating System

The Mary Dexter Chafee Fund has awarded Family Service of Rhode Island $3,000 to help replace the heating system at the agency’s group home for girls located in Bristol.

“We are fortunate to have the continuing support of the Mary Dexter Chafee Fund in our efforts to provide the best quality of life for these young women as they work to build brighter futures,” said Margaret Holland McDuff, Family Service of Rhode Island CEO.  “Two years ago the fund helped us with external improvements.”

While living in the home, the girls, all in their late teens, are preparing to live independently.

The structure, now known as Tzawapi House, is a circa 1845 Greek Revival building in the Bristol Waterfront National Historic District.

Family Service of Rhode Island is a non-profit human service and education organization serving all Rhode Island.  The agency’s website is www.familyserviceri.org.
