12/08/06 Agency's First Child Care Center Family Service of Rhode Island has many programs for children, but has never had a child care center (also known as a "day care center"). That should change in late winter or early spring! Work crews continue to prepare space for a center on the ground floor of our Mount Pleasant Academy program, located at the corner of Mt. Pleasant and Chalkstone avenues in Providence.  Wonderwall Construction was on the job the day these photos were taken. The work is possible through the generosity of our funders, which include, so far, the Champlin Foundations, the City of Providence Community Development Block Grant program (Thanks Mayor David Cicilline, the City Council and our federal elected officials! ), Citizens Bank, Sovereign Bank and the Hazard Family Foundation.
