Sweitzer Congressman Patrick Kennedy received Family Service of RI's annual Brighter Futures Award, Monday, October 19, 2009 at the RI Convention Center, Providence. He received the award for his work on behalf of the Ocean State's children. Approximately $140,000 was raised for Family Service of RI at the event, which was emcee'd by NBC 10's Patrice Wood. Speakers included Family Service of RI's CEO Margaret Holland McDuff; Donald Sweitzer, chairman of GTECH Corporation; and Providence Mayor David Cicilline. The event was co-chaired by Mr. Sweitzer and Robert Flanders, a partner at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder.
