08/04/06 First Aquidneck Island Resident Joins Board of Family Service of Rhode Island

Anson G.P. Stookey, a Newport resident, has been elected to the board of directors of Family Service of Rhode Island.

Mr. Stookey is the first Aquidneck Island resident in memory to join the Providence-based non-profit’s board of directors.  “We recently increased our work on Aquidneck Island so we felt that it was critical to begin recruiting board members who are part of the community,” said Margaret Holland McDuff, Family Service of Rhode Island’s chief executive officer.

Mr. Stookey is the founder and managing partner of Harbor Holdings, an investment company.  He’s a former trustee of the Aquidneck Land Trust.

Family Service of Rhode Island is a human service organization that helps families in crisis.  For more information, visit www.familyserviceri.org.
