08/04/08 AIDS Project RI Moves to Fox Point
AIDS Project RI, now a division of Family Service of RI, has moved from its home of over 12 years at 232 West Exchange Street, Providence, to 404 Wickenden Street in the city’s Fox Point neighborhood.
Over the past few weeks, AIDS Project RI staff have been moving to the Wickenden Street location, which is part of the Family Service of RI facility facing Hope Street, as well as to Family Service of RI’s office in South Providence. Some of Family Service of RI’s staff have moved from the Hope Street office to the South Providence office to make room for the incoming AIDS Project RI staff.
AIDS Project RI’s phone number—831-5522—will remain the same, as will the fax number, 454-0299.
AIDS Project RI merged with Family Service of Rhode Island in June, uniting HIV/AIDS services provided by both agencies in the past, and reducing costs, including the costs associated with renting the West Exchange Street office space.
“Though AIDS Project RI has relocated, the communities that receive services from it and clients of AIDS Project RI should not find any gaps in services or programs,” said spokesperson Steve Hug. “And the AIDS Project RI name will continue.”
Founded in 1985 by a small group of doctors, nurses and community activists, AIDS Project RI was the state’s first AIDS service organization.
