09/14/09 AIDS Project RI & AIDS Care Ocean State Join Forces for Gay Bingo

AIDS Project RI and AIDS Care Ocean State, two of Rhode Island’s leading HIV/AIDS service providers, have joined forces for the 2009-2010 Gay Bingo season.

“This is an era where collaboration among non-profits is critical,” said Margaret Holland McDuff, CEO of Family Service of RI, of which AIDS Project RI is a division.  “AIDS Care Ocean State brings new energy to this event as well as the inimitable Miss Kitty Litter as hostess.”

She noted that although AIDS Project RI created the event a decade ago, Miss Kitty Litter, who is associated with AIDS Care Ocean State, was involved in Gay Bingo for years.  “In a way, she’s coming home!”

“We see this as building closer teamwork between the Project and AIDS Care” said Paul Fitzgerald, CEO of AIDS Care Ocean State.  “Working together we can better serve people living with HIV/AIDS in the Ocean State.”

Beginning this Thursday, September 17 and continuing the third Thursday of every month through May, Gay Bingo will take place at the Riviera Bingo Palace on Elmwood Avenue in Cranston.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and bingo starts promptly at 7:00 p.m.  Every week there is a fun theme, with “Hawaiian Luau” as this week’s, with a prize for the best costume.

“I hope all our friends will join us to make this a big success,” said Miss Kitty Litter, noting that funds raised benefit both AIDS Care Ocean State and AIDS Project RI.  “Good times for good causes.”

Sponsors for the season are the GALA Bowling League, Town Hall Lanes, Big Gay Al’s Bowling, DownCity@50 Weybosset, Rhode Island Comedy Connection, and Bell Street Chapel.  September’s sponsor is Emperor Scott Connery of the Imperial Court.
